“I want again to breathe your free Air. I expect it will mend my Constitution and confirm my principles. I have indeed as good an Atmosphere at home as the Climate will allow: but have nothing to brag of as to the State and Liberty of my Country. . . . So I [leave you] to pity me and pray for Liberty of Conscience [to revive among us.]”

Obama Betrays His Weakness on Hot Mic

This article from The Telegraph gets it right on contrasting Obama's attitude toward the Russians with Reagan's.

I realize that comparisons of Obama to Reagan--heck, anybody compared to Reagan--are so legion these days as to make them all meaningless. But indulge me for just a moment.

Missile defense is a key aspect in our policy of defending ourselves and our allies against rogue nations such as Iran and North Korea. The defense systems are not aimed at Russia or China, and this fact has been stressed again and again under both Presidents Bush and Obama. The Obama Administration has even invited the Russians to monitor a flight test of the rockets in order to prove this point. (See http://news.yahoo.com/u-seeks-missile-defense-shields-asia-mideast-020814165.html).

While we do not know what Obama has in mind after his election, it is certainly alarming that he has some plans for addressing the issue with the Russians that he is not planning on disclosing to the American public until after he is re-elected.

Reagan understood that, strategically speaking, the Soviets were our adversaries. Putin and Medvedev have given us few reasons to believe that is not still true. Obama seems to be handling issues with the Russians carelessly.

Here is a taste of the article:

Barack Obama’s comments are disturbing on several levels. First, they display a willingness to placate America’s enemies, and cede ground over issues of national interest. Second, Obama is linking foreign policy decision-making to the timetable of the US presidential election, openly telling the Russians that he will deliver when he is no longer constrained by seeking re-election. This demonstrates contempt for the American people, suggesting that what he tells the Russians may be completely different to his message at home. Third, they reveal a dismissive approach towards America’s friends in eastern and central Europe, as well as US allies in the Gulf states, who must be wondering now if they will be sold out next.
